Review: Irresistible Forces by Brenda Jackson

Author - Brenda Jackson
Genre - Contemporary
Series - Steele Series #5
Format - Ebook (256p.)
Rating - 3/5 stars

One week of mind-blowing sex on a beautiful Caribbean island. Of all the business proposals financial tycoon Dominic Saxon has heard, Taylor Steele's is definitely the most tempting. All Taylor wants in return is for Dominic to father her baby. No strings, no commitments…just a mutually satisfying arrangement. Make that very satisfying. For a man with no intention of marrying again, it sounds ideal.

Taylor wants a baby, not a relationship. And sexy, intelligent Dominic seems like a man with perfect genes. Turns out, Dominic has perfect everything. Their "procreation vacation" is a whirlwind of sensual ecstasy. But when it's over, will either of them be able to say goodbye? One week of mind-blowing sex on a beautiful Caribbean island. IRRESISTIBLE FORCES was an okay book. I enjoyed it for the most part. The writing was pretty good, although the dialog was awful. It seemed to be pulled from the 1800's… very dated. The pacing probably would have been better if half the "Oh,  that man is so beautiful" or "Oh, that woman is so sexy" lines had been left off. About 30% in, it was redundant and annoying.

I had trouble buying into the plot. The blurb sounded interesting, but it just didn't carry over well. I think that is what tainted my view of the characters also. Taylor was just 'meh', but her hair-brained idea had her walking the fine line of TSTL territory. But she's supposed to be super smart… yet it doesn't fly with me. Dominic is a bit feminine. Okay, a lot feminine. I didn't like that that much, but luckily it didn't carry over to the bedroom, so to speak.

Overall, IRRESISTIBLE FORCES was a pretty average read. It had it's good moments and its bad. I felt the sex took up too much space where I would have liked to see more relationship development. The writing style (aside from the dialog) was the main reason I kept reading though. I, unfortunately, can't recommend it, because I feel there are better books out there more deserving of the time it takes to read than this one.

★★★
